Climbing Exam

To belay at Klättercentret it is mandatory to have the national climbing licenses (Green and Red cards). For top rope belaying the green license is a requirement. For lead climbing and lead belaying the red license is needed. If you have not belayed before, our top rope course is the best choice to get the green card. The same goes for the red card, if you haven’t done it before, our lead course is the best choice. Please note that you need to have a green card before you can take the red card.

If you have belayed on before, you can choose between taking a refresher course first or doing the climbing exam right away.

Please note that a climb is not an educational course but a practical and theoretical test, a bit like a driving licence test. If you do not follow the standards set by the Swedish Climbing Federation, you will fail. You will of course get to know which parts you failed and be recommended to either practice a little more on your own, take a refresher course or a full top rope- or lead course.

How does it work?
The exam takes about 60 minutes. The price is the same whether you pass the exam or not. Entry to the centre is not included in the price.

Since the instructor will check your belaying, we need to have 2 people booked per climbing session. We often solve this by booking you in with another customer who wants to do the exam for the same authorisation card. However, if you book yourself, you may need to bring a climbing buddy as backup. If you’re doing the leadclimbing exam, your friend must hold a red card, but for the top rope exam your friend doesn’t have to have any prior climbing experience. They only pay for the entrance fee.

We carry out climbs on these belay devices: GriGri, Jul2 and manual belay devices of the so-called slot model / ATC. Please indicate when booking the course which type of device you usually use.
