Visiting Klättercentret for your first time? Welcome!
Climbing is a physically and mentally challenging sport. It’s easy to try, but hard to master.
Our gym in Västerås will offer the best indoor climbing in town. We work hard to give you the best possible service and facilities to have a awesome climbing experience. Can’t find what you’re looking for on this page? Mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org
For belaying at Klättercentret it is mandatory to carry the national climbing licenses (Green and Red cards). For top rope belaying the green license is a requirement. For lead climbing and lead belaying the red license is needed.
If you don’t have either of these licenses, but have the proper knowledge and skill, you can take the exam (called uppklättring, in Swedish). The exam consists of a short written test followed by a practical test. If you pass these you will receive the green or the red license, depending on which test you take. E-mail us at email@example.com
If you don’t have the skill and knowledge yet, please attend our basic indoor climbing course (Grundkurs). The course is held over three sessions. Read more about this course here.
Just want to try it one time?
There are different ways to try climbing at Klättercentret. You can book an introduction to bouldering, 60 minutes with an instructor that covers basic technique and how to read the climbing routes. Our Top rope intro (Prova på) is an introduction for beginners who want to try top rope climbing, 90 minutes with an instructor that belays. You will be included in a group of max. 6 people per instructor. We provide this ”Prova på” at fixed times and all necessary equipment is included in the price. All courses can be provided in English. You can find the fixed times at our course schedule.
For bouldering at Klättercentret, two things are required. First you’ll need climbing shoes, which you can rent from our reception if you don’t own a pair, alternatively visit our well assorted climbing shop to find the perfect model. Secondly you’ll need to read our safety rules and we also recommend you to watch our bouldering safety instruction film.

1. Can I start a direct debit agreement without a Swedish personal number or a Swedish bank account?
No, unfortunately it is not possible. We suggest you to buy either a 10x, 25x entrance card or a 6 month card.
2. I am an experienced climber but people ask me for a green card, what is that?
Due to insurance policies throughout Sweden everyone who wants to belay in a climbing gym that is approved by the Swedish Climbing Association needs to have a green card (Top rope), red card (Lead) that states the persons theoretical and practical knowledge about belaying. The test takes about 30 minutes and is a combination of a short theoretical and a practical test. We have certified instructors that can perform this test with us at all our locations.
3. I would like to test climbing, what should I do?
If you want to climb top rope, and don’t have the green card, our ”Prova på” is the course for you. Together with other beginners you climb on our top rope walls for 90 minutes, with an instructor that belays you. We provide this ”Prova på” at fixed times and all necessary equipment is included in the price. All courses can be provided in English.
If you want to boulder, the only thing you will have to do is to stop by. You need some climbing shoes (which you can rent if you don’t have a pair) and, yeah, thats it! Please note that you need to be 12 year or older to boulder on your own.
4. I do not have a climbing partner, any tips?
We have six auto-belays here in Västerås where you can climb on our 14,5 meters wall by yourself. In Västerås, we have arranged a possibility to find a belay partner by being at our ”Meeting point” in our café 5.30 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If no one else turns up that day, you are able to leave your cell phone number, if you want, and try bouldering instead! Bouldering is quite social and also a good way to find climbing friends.
5. Booking Policy
